My name is Elizabeth and I am no stranger to the game of tug-of-war between the known and the unknown. I was born into Christianity, became agnostic when I was around 11 or 12 years old (in 2012 or 2013), and have been deeply spiritual since 2020. What caused me to become deeply spiritual was a specific, desperate wish coming true that would've made me dishonest if I continued to question whether the universe was listening or not. After I became agnostic, my self-confidence and mental health declined rapidly. I assumed I would no longer be protected by who I knew as God at the time by becoming agnostic and felt powerless without it. When I became a legal adult, I was far too lost and confused in my own beliefs and fears to fulfill what was expected of me and knew that I wasn't going to be understood and supported in the way that I deserved and needed. After seven or eight years of no prayer cold turkey, I spoke out to the universe again on the off chance that it would be willing to prove its presence to help me move forward. I was an honest person who wanted nothing but the truth and guidance. I desperately wished for the universe to send me someone who understood me as much as I understood myself so I could be supported in the way I deserved. I even chose a specific name. I also told the universe that if it was willing to prove itself to me, then I'd be willing to find the courage to fulfill my purpose and make my dreams come true (sidenote: despite falling out of touch with my faith as a result of the worst part of my childhood, a big dream was also born that really kept my spirit alive). This person showed up in my life some months later; we had undeniable parallels that proved their presence was a sign from the universe; and I've been on a deeply transformative healing journey ever since. They did not validate and support me as I was yearning for. We haven't spoken since the end of 2022. Their purpose in my life wasn't exactly what I asked for, but it was definitely what I needed.
