I Feel Out of Place!
“ The most interesting things in life happen just on the other side of your comfort zone.” – Michael Hyatt
Have you ever been someplace where you don’t quite feel like you fit? Maybe you are surrounded by people who are nothing like you. Maybe you're stuck someplace where you're unable to use your talents and skills effectively. Maybe something just doesn't feel right about the things that you're doing, and you can't put your finger on just what that is. Feeling out of place can be a very isolating feeling. Each of us has things that we were born to do and each of us feels more at home in certain places, and less at home in others. Each of us also feels more comfortable with certain people than others. Feeling out of place with where you are, who you are with, or what you are doing can completely throw you off.
Some people believe that they were born to do something in particular and anything else that they do besides that is a waste of time. Other people believe that while we are busy making plans, the universe shows us what it wants us to be doing. Some people believe that we are guided by the powers that be, but we still make a lot of our own decisions. Somehow, regardless of what you believe, you will find yourself in places where you feel like you don’t belong and you will wonder just where you actually do. There are easy ways to discover where you're supposed to be, what you are supposed to be doing, and who you are supposed to be doing it with.
When you feel out of place, it can make you feel completely separated from others and that can make you stressed, and it can even give you a distorted sense of time. It can raise risks of depression and anxiety disorder and those things can take a toll on your physical health. Finding the answers to where you belong can feel tricky, but you don’t need to worry. A lot of the answers already lie within you, and some of the answers come to you when you sit still and listen. Sometimes all you have to do is embrace change to manifest new beginnings that are meaningful, and you can read about how to do that here: How to Manifest Your Life After Changes
How Do I Know Where I Belong?
“ Be sure to put your feet in the right place, then stand firm. “ – Abraham Lincoln
Being in the right place at the right time is perhaps the most valuable thing in life. How do you know where you're supposed to be? There are a few things you can do to find out If the answer doesn't present itself immediately. Research and do investigations about places where you think that you might belong. Then, try new things when you get the chance to experiment and see if that's where you feel like you belong. Most of all, be patient with this process, and you will find the answers.
Investigate
At first you might not even know where to look for the answers when you're trying to find out where you belong. So just getting started can be difficult. If you have no idea where to look, ask someone what they think. If you're trying to find the right career, ask people who know you where you think your skills would be a good fit. If you're looking for a new place to live, check the reviews online, and ask the people who you know what they think is the best neighborhood for you. You never know what's out there until you start looking. Keep an open mind, ask for suggestions, and answers will come to you. Opening yourself up to new people and new experiences will put you out of your comfort zone and might make you feel vulnerable. Just make sure to keep a positive outlook and be hopeful for the best. If something you try doesn't work out, that's okay. Try something else. Keep trying new things until you find out what is the perfect thing for you. Before you know it, you will find exactly where you belong. Read about love here: How to Manifest Love
Be Patient
While you are investigating and experimenting, it is very important to be patient with yourself. If you're lucky, you'll find answers immediately, but that doesn’t always happen. It can be exhausting and frustrating waiting to find the answers, but it is definitely worth it. Being patient while you are finding out where you belong gives you the time to decide where you feel comfortable without having to immediately commit to something that doesn't work for you. Enjoy the process and then enjoy the benefits of taking your time to find out where you feel like you belong. How to Find Your Tribe
“With the right vibes and the right people, it’s easy to create something magical.” – Dinah Jane
Finding the group of people who you feel comfortable with is something else that can take time. Whether you're looking for friendship, love, or for peers in your career field, it is very important to find the people who you want to spend time with in your life. There's a few questions that you can ask yourself while you're finding these people. Find out what kind of things you like to do, which people are most like you, and who makes you feel comfortable around them.
What Do You Like To Do?
Quite often, we spend our time with people who we have things in common with. If you're a creative person, it's important that you spend time with other creative people. If you're an animal lover, you will find yourself associating with other animal lovers. If you love to read, you will naturally gravitate toward other people who do. Spending time with people who enjoy the same things that you enjoy is a great way to find your tribe. An easy way to do this is to go to the places where you do the things that you love, and introduce yourself to other people who are doing those things. Pretty soon you will have plenty of friends who have the same interests as you. Read about the friend zone here: How Do I Get Out of the Friend Zone?
Who is Most Like You?
Just sharing like interests doesn't necessarily make you alike. Lifestyle, personal preferences, and beliefs are things that bring us together. A lot of couples who have been together for many years don't have that many shared interests, but they want the same things in life. A lot of people find friends who become like family members in their faith communities. Plenty of people spend a lot of time with other people who have the same level of activity in their lifestyle. Homebodies like to stick together sometimes, and people who like to travel quite often like to travel with friends. You might very well find your tribe with other people who are most like you. Who Makes You Comfortable?
It is quite possible that the people who comprise your tribe are not exactly like you, and they actually don't do a lot of the same things that you do, but they know how to make you feel good when you're around them. Who knows how to make you laugh when you've had a bad day? Who knows just what you need to feel better when you're sick? Who knows how to make you feel better about yourself when someone has torn you down? These people make your life so much better than it would be without them. They are your tribe. What is Right for Me?
“ Doing the right thing is not the problem. Knowing what the right thing is, that’s the challenge. “ – Lyndon B. Johnson
Figuring out the people who belong in your life and the right places to be can be a little bit easier than deciding what things are right for you. This can be simple, though, and you just have to ask yourself two questions. What are you good at, and what is good for you?
What Are You Good At?
Each of us is born with talents that cannot be taught. We are just naturally good at them. As time goes by, we also learn skills. After a while we become very good at the things that we do. We don't learn all those things by accident. We are given the opportunity to learn and grow for a reason, and putting the skills that we have acquired to good use to make the world a better place is what each of us are born to do. Think about what kind of things that you are good at and go do those things. You never know when doing what you're good at can touch someone's life. Casting your Birth Chart can reveal some of the things that you are born to do and you can read about the First House of Astrology here: The Complete Guide to 1st House Astrology
What is Good for You?
While it is certainly important to find ways to use your abilities to make the world a better place, you matter too. What people, places, and things are good for you? What experiences give you the ability to shine and highlight your skills? What places give you the opportunity to thrive emotionally and feel enriched, stimulated, and good about life in general? Which people make you happy? These are the people, places, and things that you should center your life around. This is where you belong. What should you do when there's a conflict with that? If you are good for an experience but it's not good for you what should you do? Only you can decide how to balance your needs with the needs of other people. You don't deserve to deplete yourself just to make other people happy. You can always protect your energy around people who are not good for you. A Last Word
“ Know that everything will happen at just the right time, at just the right place, with just the right people.” – Wayne W. Dyer
If you have done everything that we recommended doing to find out where you belong, and you still don't have any answers, you can reach out to the powers that be. If you pray, say a prayer to your mother goddess or father god for guidance. If you don't worship a god or goddess, that's okay. Speak aloud to the universe and ask it something like, “ I’m lost. I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing. I don't know who I'm supposed to be spending time with. I don't know where I belong. I have tried everything to find out. Inspire me to understand these things. Give me a sign.” Then wait patiently. The answers will come. I promise.
You have never strayed from your path, but you’ve been walking it all along. You might feel temporarily lost when you are someplace new, but wherever life takes you, this is where you belong. While you are looking for profound answers about what things you are meant to do, you are already out there doing them. Sometimes, it takes a while to find your “people”, but they are out there, waiting for you, and you will find each other when you are meant to. So, walk your path, be with your people, and do your thing. You are always on the right path and right where you belong.
